One out of every 5 people in the world today has a problem related to their food/drink. About 800 million people suffer from overweight to obesity levels, 500 million suffer from diabetes and about 200 million are deficient in micronutrients such as vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. What caused it?

Food that is heavier to energy than nutrition is the main culprit. In Indonesia, for example, we know basic necessities or 9 basic ingredients consisting of 1) rice, 2) sugar, 3) cooking oil, 4) beef/chicken, 5) eggs, 6) milk, 7) onions/garlic, 8 ) LPG/Kerosene and 9) iodized salt.

The existence of this list, whether we realize it or not, has led to the impression that these 9 items are important — the others are less or not important. Whereas obesity is actually caused by items 1–6, diabetes is generally caused by items 1 and 2, while the lack of micronutrients is because there are other foods that are so important but not on the list of basic necessities so they are not the focus, namely fruits and vegetables.

So what should be our food so that the problems mentioned above do not occur? There are guidelines that apply throughout the ages, we will not get lost if we follow them — including in this food business. In the Qur’an there are more than 60 verses related to this food, but I’ll take it in one Surah, namely ‘Abasa verses 27–32. Details of our diet, which I call the ‘Abasa Diet, can be seen in the chart below.

Pay attention to the composition, of the 8 food items mentioned in the series of verses, 4 of them (50%) are related to fruit, 2 related to vegetables, herbs and spices (25%), 1 related to grains (12.5%) and 1 related to livestock products (12.5%). So here’s a cue to the ideal composition of our food.

Pay attention again to the fruit element that is mentioned up to 4 times (50%} what is the impact if our food is heavy on fruit? The energy element is obtained without being excessive, even the micronutrient elements are also complete. A little lack of energy just needs to be added a little grain, and a lack of protein is added livestock products. Both are still needed but not the main focus — it doesn’t have to be massive imports of wheat and meat — because they are needed in very little.

The advantage of fruit is that we are all easy to grow, even in a narrow area. Seasonal production can also be overcome with technology — so that all the energy, nutrients and aroma can be stored for a long time.

In fact, one of the 9 basic ingredients mentioned above, which is often accused of being the culprit of obesity and diabetes, is sugar, which is the prima donna of SWEETENER — currently with our technology it can be completely replaced with what we call FRUITENER — natural sweetener that is not sugar, but from fresh fruit. In addition to overcoming obesity and diabetes, it also prevents micronutrient deficiencies such as vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. Once paddled, three islands passed.
